Salary: £22,617 to £30,195 (starting salary of £22,617)

Based at:  Clifford Street Police Office, Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. 

Please note this is subject to review and there may be a requirement to work weekends, a shift pattern,  or be part of an on call rota.

Role:

Applications are invited for the above posts from candidates with the relevant knowledge and investigative mind set. The overall purpose of which is to support officers and staff investigating crime. Securing evidence from computers, mobile phones and any other digital storage media devices will be done in a manner acceptable to the courts and in compliance with force instructions and quality systems (ISO17025). The role also includes receiving exhibits, examining, dismantling and carrying out the forensic acquisition of storage media, triage of exhibits, carrying out investigations, and the examination and grading of indecent images. There will be mandatory, Occupational Health screening.

 

Successful candidates will receive internal training and may be expected to successfully complete a two week residential, Core Skills in Data Recovery and Analysis course at the College of Policing. Continued employment in this role will be dependent on this. Once qualified, there will be the opportunity to progress through a career grade structure based on training and experience.

The selection process requires success at each stage below in order to proceed:

  • Paper sift.
  • A practical test to demonstrate technical knowledge.
  • Interview.

You may be required to repay any costs of external training courses if you leave your post within a two year period calculated from the end of the course/obtaining the qualification.

  

Qualifications:

Applicants will hold an appropriate degree qualification or have significant experience relevant to the field of Digital Forensics.

 

Vetting level – Recruitment Vetting (RV)

 

Applicants must be a resident of the UK for a minimum period of 3 years to ensure vetting checks can be successfully performed.

A job offer will be dependent upon vetting clearance, medical information and references.
