The force has recently developed a more agile and smarter approach to service delivery, recognising there are a number of roles that can be performed effectively in the home environment, enabling greater productivity and improved work-life balance.
This role has been assigned an ‘agile’ persona which means that you will be able to work flexibly at a force location or at home. The assigned ‘team zone’ location for the role is Forth Banks Police Station, Newcastle City Centre. Frequency of attendance at the force location will be determined subject to business needs and in agreement with line management.
What will I be doing?
In this role you will gather, analyse and interpret a range of people metrics, including performance measures, demographic factors, capability and deployment activity. You will be required to provide an analytical view on a range of people data, and you will produce detailed insightful reports on the workforce to inform decision making and assist planning. The ability to compose comprehensive and insightful reports at a range of levels and perspectives whilst working to strict timelines is therefore essential.
You will be instrumental in developing a thorough understanding of the workforce and will develop and manage a set of tools and processes to do this. You will evidence your work through research, consultation, analysis and your own professional insight. You will build and develop relationships across the entire organisation to secure an understanding of opportunities, resource pressures and competing priorities.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role you will hold a good understanding of business processes and will demonstrate your ability to systematically analyse a wide range of information. You will have demonstrable experience of composing evidence-based reports in a narrative form and demonstrate your ability to deliver accurate and timely outputs in a fast-paced environment.
You will be an investigative and analytical thinker who is able to demonstrate creative interpretation of data. You must be an advanced user of Microsoft Excel and will be able to use a variety of formulas to build and maintain complex workbooks, future proofing these to enable updates to be provided quickly. You will have an ability to use a range of computer-based systems including large relational databases and workbooks and you will need to be a fast learner.
You should be able to use analytical skills to transform large and complex sets of data, from different sources, into simple, meaningful and influential workbooks, dashboards and presentations that allows the user to quickly understand the force’s position on people metrics and workforce data in order to aid decision making.
Experience of building dynamic dashboards using data visualisation tools such as Power BI and Qlik Sense is advantageous.
