Our communication and engagement team are instrumental in ensuring our people are informed, engaged and enabled to deliver an outstanding policing service to our local communities.

The team are essential in delivering our ambitious change programme communications which will see the Force introduce new technology, further support our wellbeing agenda and essentially improve the service we provide to the public.  Our role is to take people on our journey, to excite people about change and story tell the impact this will have so our people are engaged and feel positive about change.

We have high standards within the team and attention to detail is essential, so we are looking for someone with outstanding written skills but also creativity and innovation to bring new ideas to engage internal audiences differently.

What will I be doing?

In the Senior Internal Engagement Advisor Role, you will work closely with the Engagement Manager to plan, develop and deliver internal communications and engagement activity that supports our strategy.  This is a supervisor role and you will oversee our Internal Engagement Advisors and our Events Coordinator to deliver outstanding internal communications and events that support our reward and recognition agenda.

This is a real opportunity to bring your creativity, excite people with your communication tactics, to story tell and embed our key messages and make a real impact in Northumbria Police.

You will lead on the daily management of the Force’s internal communications channels and ensure that all communications reflect the Force’s priorities.  You will work with a range of stakeholders at all ranks to understand their requirements for internal engagement that is planned and coordinated.

You will join an already successful team who have transformed the way we communicate information across the Force.  As a result, demand is high and the ability to manage your own workload is essential.

What do I need?

  • A proven background and experience of working in a busy communication and engagement environment.
  • Excellent written, oral, presentational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of delivering effective and innovative internal campaigns.
  • A proven track record of providing communications advice and guidance at a senior level and using skills and experience to challenge, influence and negotiate, to develop effective comms and engagement plans.
  • Experience in project management to coordinate deliver timely communication and engagement.
  • Extensive experience of working closely and successfully with senior managers on complex and challenging communications, working at pace and under deadline pressure.
