The Role:
Salary Banding: From £26,244 – To £31,725
Location: Base Location Ponteland, including Home Working

A team of 2 Storage and virtualisation Engineers are employed by Northumbria Police ICT to provide implementation, support and maintenance services for its Storage and & virtualisation estate.

ICT are looking to increase the strength and resilience of the current team and want to recruit an experienced and talented Storage & Virtualisation engineer. You will have a passion to deliver outstanding customer service, have an aptitude for problem-solving and troubleshooting and will embrace an environment of continual change and process improvement. 

What skills and experience do I need?

Experience in administrating Virtual (VMWare) and Corporate Storage, environments.
A degree, HND or equivalent qualification, and/or have relevant experience.
Microsoft Server and Windows 10 Operating system experience
Linux experience would be beneficial but not essential
Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
Good planning, administrative and organisational skills.
Good interpersonal and team working skills.

What will I be doing?

You will be ensuring that the VMware and storage infrastructure is performant, and any issues are discussed with stakeholders in a timely and consistent manner. 
You will be performing regular patching and maintenance of the VMware, SAN and scale-out NAS storage clusters.  
Undertake installation and configuration of new storage and virtual systems within the agreed time scales, to the correct standards. 
Participate in 2nd line support for VMware and Storage systems, communicating with system owners, customers and 3rd party support.
There will be a requirement to participate in a 24x7 365 day, On-Call rota.
