We fight crime, prevent crime, and improve lives – a statement very few occupations can make. Every role at Northumbria Police contributes to making the North East a better place to live, work and visit.
We are embarking on an exciting new era of change, in which the bedrock services of Information, Communication and Technology will be strengthened and extended to provide a more tailored digital approach. We’re excited to welcome a great opportunity for an experienced Programme Manager to come and join our team.
Working within the Force Transformation Team and managing a team of 5 project managers, you will oversee delivery of projects ranging from significant IT hardware refreshes to implementation of national police programme initiatives. Current projects in the programme include the roll out of Office 365 across the Force and a brand-new intranet site.
With a strong background in leading transformational change, you will be working in conjunction with Senior Leaders and core operational teams to scope, plan and ensure that projects within the programme are delivered successfully. You will be experienced in managing similar scale programmes and understand the challenges and sensitivities with such a transformation.
A key part of this role will be engaging with key stakeholders to report on the delivery of the programme. You will provide advice on proposed strategic plans, changes and identify emerging problems which may affect the programme delivery and ensure appropriate steps are taken to resolve. You will be responsible for effectively managing project finances and monitoring budgets throughout programme delivery.
What will I be doing?
· Maintaining, adapting and improving project governance protocols in conjunction with fellow Programme Managers to ensure ongoing effective delivery of projects.
· You will prioritise and schedule projects, maximise resources and manage key dependencies across projects and other programmes to ensure successful and timely delivery.
· Implement Communications and Engagement initiatives so that the Force understands any changes and their associated impacts and benefits.
· Provide regular programme reports to show progress against key deliverables, highlighting any key risks and decisions required across projects.
What do I need?
· Experience (3 years +) working in a Programme Manager role or Senior Project Manager role
· You will have or be willing to work towards a programme management qualification such as Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)
· You will have Prince 2 practitioner or similar project management qualification
· Proven experience of managing multiple projects and dependencies, with an ability to identify and mitigate risks at the earliest opportunity to ensure consistently successful delivery
