The role:
Salary: £23,766 to £26,016

The Crime Prevention Advisor (CPA) will be providing wider general crime prevention advice and support force crime prevention initiatives. The CPA supports Neighbourhood Policing’s preventative efforts and force strategies advising local communities regarding domestic, personal and commercial crime prevention initiatives and tactics. The CPA maintains a detailed and current knowledge of physical and technical security equipment and liaises with the industry to assist with the inspection of properties, preparation of reports and providing appropriate security advice.

What will I be doing?

To support the development and delivery of crime preventive strategies, and to act as the catalyst and co-ordinator for the implementation, maintenance, monitoring and evaluation of such preventive strategies.
Maintain up to date knowledge of physical and technical security equipment by liaising with industry leaders and external partners
Advise local communities regarding domestic, personal and commercial crime prevention initiatives and tactics, through site visits, reports and presentations to external groups and organisations.
Provide crime prevention advice to individuals, companies and external agencies in support of Area Command and Force aims and objectives.
Provide tactical and technical crime prevention advice in support of operational policing.
The inspection of properties where the particular expertise of the Crime Prevention Advisor is required. The preparation of reports giving appropriate security advice and maintenance of records.
Design and deliver presentations and training, in relation to personal security and safety, to community and workplace groups in order to reduce the incidence and fear of crime.
Participate in community and business forums to exchange information on crime prevention matters, to represent the views of the area command and force, to identify local solutions to local problems and to promote the adoption of crime prevention practices and principles throughout the community.
To provide a consultation and review function for the Force’s Problem Solving process.
Undertake a range of clerical and administrative duties, using paper-based and computerised systems in support of the functions of the role.

What do I need?
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals from all sections of the community with the ability to develop and influence strong working relationships both internally and externally. Applicants should have good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations to varied audiences.  

There will a requirement for successful candidates to undertake a training course in Crime Prevention.
