This is a diverse role where you’ll be providing support and development to your team who will be responsible for all maintenance and administrative duties in several our buildings. We can guarantee that no two days will be the same – you’ll face new challenges, work with colleagues with all levels of experience and generally - expect the unexpected! 
 
This role is crucial in ensuring our busy force can operate smoothly and your team will be instrumental in supporting Police Officers on a day-to-day basis. One day you could be arranging an office move or supporting a refurbishment plan, the next ensuring our fleet of police vehicles are ready for operational duty. Most importantly, you’ll be working closely with your team to ensure they are motivated and delivering a fantastic service to a wide variety of stakeholders. 
 
What will I be doing?
• Ensuring your team are effectively resourced to provide a high level of customer service. 
• Supporting and inspiring your team to enhance their performance and skills. 
• Identifying and acting on any skills gap’s, ensuring training is organised and completed.
• Managing the team in their daily duties, allocating work, managing performance and attendance.
• Carrying out recruitment and selection of new staff when required.
• Collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve a smooth police operation. 
• Maintaining and updating computer systems to ensure services are efficient and effective.
• Organising, coordinating, and implementing Health and Safety Inspections to meet legislation. 
 
What essential skills will I need?
• You’ll need to have excellent planning and organisational skills to ensure a high quality of service to our customers. 
• Management or staff supervision experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to a variety of stakeholders.
• An understanding of Health & Safety (you don’t need to be an expert, but you do need some awareness – we’ll support you with training if required)
• The confidence to manage expectations of numerous stakeholders.
 
This is a varied role where you’ll also provide support to staff across multiple sites such as Morpeth and Ashington as well and the occasional travel to Berwick. You’ll need be flexible in your approach and able to manage a variety of people in different roles. You’ll also need a valid UK driving licence to travel between sites when required.
