Intelligence Officer - Operation Adder - Grade E
 

24 month secondment/fixed term opportunity

Project Adder (Addiction, Diversion, Disruption, Enforcement Recovery) is a two year pilot funded by the Home Office and managed by Public Health 

The Project is aimed at reducing drug related deaths and moving individuals away from drug addiction. 

Expressions of interest are sought in relation to an opportunity to form part of a dedicated team of officers and police staff within Central Area Commands Harm Reduction Team working closely with staff and partners to deliver against the Project Adder Plan 

The role will support a whole-system approach to enhancing local enforcement ensuring an intelligence driven targeted approach is taken with each element of enforcement activity 

The post will be predominantly remote working with Etal Lane as a base when required.  

Role:
Previous experience of intelligence management is required and we are seeking to recruit a hard working team player, who is quick to learn new skills and can understand and identify risk.  

1. Gather, research, evaluate and assess information/intelligence from various sources in order to contribute to the intelligence function.
2. Develop intelligence in order to achieve operational aims and objectives.
3. Have the ability to prepare, deliver, attend and conduct intelligence briefings, meetings, reports and debriefings, at all levels, in order to contribute to the intelligence process.
4. Disseminate and receive intelligence and share information force wide, to foreign forces and to partner agencies, in accordance with the relevant procedures, in order to inform operational decision makers.
5. Develop a flexible approach to working, undertaking intelligence cell duties and understanding of subjects allocated, in order to be able to support appropriately operational policing.
6. Be prepared to learn new skills and new systems in order to fulfil all aspects of the role of an Intelligence officer.

The shift pattern is Monday – Friday 0800 – 1600

What will I be doing?

Developing and evaluating intelligence
Assessment of threat, harm, and risk against vulnerabilities
Identifying opportunities which exist and taking a problem solving approach to minimising intelligence gaps
Identifying enforcement opportunities to target organised criminals operating in our communities
Disrupt the drugs supply networks which cause the greatest harm 
Through positive results build trust and confidence in Northumbria Police

What do I need?

Experience of working in an intelligence environment
Excellent knowledge of Force IT systems and the ability to navigate a variety of intelligence databases
Experience of conducting open and closed source intelligence research
An awareness of serious and organised crime legislation including RIPA/IPA and methods to disrupt organised criminality
A good awareness of the NIM and associated intelligence products
Excellent attention to detail
Have good knowledge of social media platforms
Able to use a range of intelligence tools such as PNC, PND and ANPR etc.
An understanding of regional crime threats and associated tasking and coordinating processes
A good understanding of intelligence handling codes and be familiar with GSC protocols
You may also be required to perform other duties which are not necessarily specified in the role profile but which are commensurate with the responsibilities of the post holder.
