Based at: Forth Banks Police Station, Newcastle

This is an exciting opportunity to join Northumbria Police where you will play a key role in helping us achieve our vision for transformation by 2025. The first phase of the programme is Destination 2021, where we are delivering a number of exciting projects, including refreshing our technology platforms. This includes implementation of a new operating system, which will support us to change the way we deliver our services to the public. Therefore, experience implementing technological solutions with a key focus on successfully embedding new functionality into the operational environment would be advantageous.

 

As Business Change Programme Manager, you will create and embed programme governance arrangements and project management principles to ensure the transformation programme is achieved.  With extensive experience in the use of project management methodology, you will identify the benefits to be realised, associated risks and interdependencies and raise these considerations through regular reporting.  The successful candidate will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of techniques to plan, monitor and control programmes.

 

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport, engage with and influence key stakeholders as well as being confident to challenge in the best interests of the organisation. Creating presentations and presenting updates at board meetings with key stakeholders will be a regular expectation of the role of Business Change Programme Manager.

 

The successful candidate will feel confident with the challenge of working in a pressurised environment which brings tight deadlines, management of potential conflicting opinions from key stakeholders as well as leading and managing a successful team of project resources.

 

Operating with a level of autonomy, the Business Change Programme Manager will handle complex tasks and gain the confidence of senior leaders and colleagues that work will be completed to a high quality and honest conversations take place if problems or concerns are encountered.

 

The Business Change Programme Manager will have the ability to deliver change in a complex environment whilst maintaining overall programme goals.  The successful candidate will have sound business case development and assessment skills as well as experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams. Finally, you will help us achieve our programme goals by putting people at the heart of the change programme, helping to implement the cultural shift that the organisation is seeking, and ensuring the operational changes are successfully achieved. 

 

Education/Experience:

·    Relevant post-graduate/vocational qualification or equivalent experience

·    Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) qualification (or equivalent) to practitioner level or PRINCE2 practitioner (or equivalent) is desirable

·    Recent and relevant experience in business change programme management with proven evidence of successfully delivering and embedding significant change across complex environments

·    Proven planning and dependency management skills including the ability to prioritise across a number of complex work-streams and initiatives.

·    Experience leading cross-functional teams to achieve defined outcomes including the ability to delegate effectively, particularly in a matrix management environment

·    Experience of process improvement / process engineering and continuous improvement methodologies
