Building Surveyor
 

Fixed term contract until March 2023.
All staff including those appointed on fixed term contracts must successfully complete their probationary period before they are eligible to apply for an internal vacancy.

An excellent opportunity has arisen in within our estates department for a Chartered Building Surveyor, the successful applicant will have previous experience of working to an exceptional standard across a wide range of projects.
We are looking for someone who has a professional, competent approach together with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  
The role will involve a mixture of core professional building surveying, contract administration and project management work, so a background in all three areas would be an advantage.
 What you will be doing: 
·       Provide professional and proactive advice on property issues to the organisation
·       Carry out condition surveys of property and prepare maintenance plans to inform medium term financial forecast
·       Maintain detailed knowledge of assess management techniques as well as all legislation, guidance and best practice
·       Evaluate proposals from manufacturers and subcontractors to remedy building defects.
·       Produce reports, develop specifications and suitable scope of works packages following analysis of repairs data, asset data, H&S risk assessments or survey data.
·       Undertake research and development into maintenance solutions and the promotion of these.
·       Lead projects to ensure requirements of the organisation are captured in sufficient detail.
·       Prepare advice and recommending input from specialists where appropriate to complete project documentation.
·       Assist the contract administrator in the preparation of tender documentation.
·       Undertake inspection of works in progress and completed works to ensure completed to a satisfactory standard 
·       Produce design work, prepare drawing’s, specifications and other tender documents to accurately convey the scope and content
·       Prepare and submit applications for statutory and contractual consents in a timely manner
·       Develop, monitor project programmes and manage risk to ensure agreed timescales are achieved
·       Manage the work of consultants and contractors to ensure that products meet required quality standards.
·       Such other responsibilities allocated which are appropriate to the grade of the post.
You will need:
·       RICS qualified/working towards this or can demonstrate suitable work experience
·       Full driving license 
·       Excellent verbal and written communication and customer care skills with the ability to direct and influence operatives on site.
·       IT skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and competent in the use of AutoCAD 
·       Providing excellent customer service.
·       A sound knowledge of current technical regulations
