The role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Test Analyst to join us at Northumbria Police, working on one of the biggest programmes of ICT change currently being undertaken in the North East.

At Northumbria Police, we are in the process of replacing our Police Operational System as we work towards delivering outstanding and innovative police services in the future.

We have had our old system for over 35 years and now we are embarking on an exciting journey, bringing in 2 new systems which will support the Force to deliver outstanding police services in the future.

We are looking for a highly motivated Test Analyst that has testing experience in Integration, System and Acceptance Levels to join us and support us on this journey.

What will I be doing?
Working closely with the Test Manager and dedicated project team members, you will lead test activities for specific projects / workstreams, participating in all phases of the STLC (Requirement Analysis, Planning, Development, Environment Setup, Execution and Closure).

You will be accountable for the production and quality of all test collateral including test plans, specifications, test scripts and test reporting in line with project / programme test strategies. 

Providing an escalation point for all testing matters across assigned projects, you will ensure that all risks and issues are identified, reported, managed/ resolved or escalated to the Test Manager where applicable.

You will also ensure that the defect management process is adhered to within all projects and that all defects are tracked and progressed correctly.

Using your knowledge and previous experience, you will also identify and advise on opportunities to automate testing activities.

What do I need?
Ideally you will be ISTQB certified with at least five years’ experience working as a test analyst. You will have strong analytical / problem-solving skills and be highly organised with a logical / methodical approach to work.

Possessing excellent communications skills you have the ability to work collaboratively whilst guiding other members of the team. You will also have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders.

You will possess experience of a range of technologies but also have the ability to quickly gain a good working knowledge of new systems / applications / technologies.

Essential:
Experience of creating all test deliverables (plans, specifications, scripts, reports etc.)
Experience of reading and constructing SQL queries.
Experience of working with XML.
Experience of working with test automation tools such as selenium or QTP.
Web Services/ API test experience using SOAP UI.
JIRA (and Xray for Jira) test management tool experience.

Preferred:
ISTQB certification at advanced level.
Experience of mobile testing.
