This is a career graded position – Band 4 – 8 £23,100 - £34,833 (Increasing to £23,289 - £35,124 from September 2023 following a transitional pay award period)

Based at:  Agile – You will be working from Forth Banks Police Station and Home

The Role:

This amazing opportunity falls within the Accountancy Services team who are responsible for the provision and maintenance of a financial, costing and budgetary service to the force, and the formulation and dissemination of financial management and costing information.

This role would be perfect for a recently qualified graduate looking to gain knowledge and experience of working in a large organisation or someone wanting to work in Finance. For the successful candidate financial support will be available to enable the AAT qualification to be achieved.

 

What will I be doing?

·         Monitoring budgets and control accounts, investigating and challenging unexpected financial transactions and liaising with other sections and departments to resolve issues and produce accurate financial information and reports.

·         Working with senior managers from across the force to ensure accurate projections and provide advice, whilst ensuring they understand their current financial position.

·         Supporting the financial budgeting cycle including budget setting, medium term financial planning, financial year-end, annual statements of account and Whole of Government Accounts (WGA).

·         Assisting with the submission of CIPFA statistical data, statutory returns to government and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

·         Conducting internal reviews on finance processes and providing recommendations for improvements, helping to drive efficiencies.

 

What do I need?

 

·         You have obtained AAT accounting qualification or equivalent and are able to demonstrate experience of working in a busy finance function

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         An ability to work using your own initiative in an innovative and proactive manner, applying problem solving skills where required

·         Strong attention to detail and high personal and professional standards

·         Experience of operating to strict deadlines

·         Good understanding of Microsoft Office, in particular, Excel

 

Desirable but not necessary:

  • Experience in working with finance IT systems
  • An understanding and knowledge of budget setting processes
