At Northumbria we can offer an array of exciting career opportunities, development and progression at all ranks ranging from Chief Superintendent to Police Constable .

The diverse geographic area offers an array of different policing challenges. From community problem solving up in rural Northumberland, to tackling complex cases in our city centres of Newcastle and Sunderland, there is something for everyone to sink their teeth into.

The North East is not only a fantastic place to work, but also a great place to live. Our region is diverse and we want to reflect and understand that diversity, recognising what is important for our communities.

We would love to hear from you if you are looking for a new challenge and currently hold any rank from Sergeant to Chief Superintendent.

We also want to hear from any Police Constables who possess any of the following skill sets:

·         Detective Qualified (PIP2)

·         National Firearms Instructors*

·         ARV Level Firearms Officers

·         Dog Handlers

·         Motor Patrols Officers

*National Firearms Instructors (PC) are a full time role within Northumbria Police. Applicants must be currently competent in the role and be able to deliver ARV initial and refresher training as a baseline. This is a direct transfer into the Operational Tactical Training Centre (Follingsby) so officers must be competent and deployable at ARV level.

All transferees at any rank must have passed their probationary period/PCDA training and be currently serving with a Home Office force. Police rejoiners who possess the above skill set or held any rank will be considered. Unfortunately at this current time officers from the British Transport Police, Ministry of Defence Police, Civil Nuclear Constabulary or Police Scotland are unable to apply.

Whether you are looking to relocate with your family, partner or moving to develop your career, we have something to offer everyone. We are a flexible organisation and will work with you to ensure a smooth transition from your current force and home location. We can offer a range of working arrangements to support you and your families move to the North East. If you want to find out anything further about the area we would be more than happy to share our local insight. Please email careers@northumbria.pnn.police.uk  to arrange a call back or if you require any further information.

Your recruitment journey will first consist of an application from which can be accessed below, followed by an interview. Please ensure you include details of all of your Police training however the “Home Force Endorsement” is not mandatory, as we appreciate you may not wish to inform your current force at this early stage. If this is the case simply upload a blank document. If successful at interview, pre-employment checks will commence.

Following the completion of your pre-employment checks, we will work with you and your family to reach a mutually agreeable start date for your transfer to Northumbria. We will also approach you to identify your skill set and areas of interest, and match this against Northumbria’s current vacancies.

We look forward to receiving your application and should you have any question please do not hesitate to contact us.
