The Force Coordination Centre was set up to manage all aspects of force resourcing. The Centre provides resourcing information to senior officers to assist in managing demand, planning and resourcing events and incidents. The team play a big role in ensuring that abstractions and annual leave are managed effectively, key work includes management of annual leave, arranging training courses and resourcing events and operations ensuring systems are updated to accurately reflect the information. They also support Silver and Gold Commanders by providing resourcing options for live time events and pre-planned operations. It’s the role of the FCC to make sure that the correct skilled resources are in the right place at the right time to ultimately reduce demand on a certain role or function. This ensures we continue to improve our service to the public and the wellbeing of our people.

The role:

Our team of Force Coordination Centre (FCC) Coordinators are responsible for coordinating officers and staff and maintaining accurate records around resources and skills within an Area Command or Department ensuring close working with our People Services Department.

As a FCC Coordinator you will provide resourcing information and advice to Senior Management on current and future resourcing levels, including the use of restricted officers, impact of moving officers and police staff and future vacancies and resourcing gaps, suggesting creative and innovative solutions to the resourcing challenges which we can face on a sometimes daily basis.

Our Coordinators are responsible for the management of annual leave and abstraction of officers for events and training considering competencies, resources and skill levels in addition to administering changes to force computer records to ensure that there is an accurate reflection of officer duties skills, deployment status and workplace location.  You will also work closely with the Force Coordination Centre Analyst to provide advice around flexible working requests.  

We are looking for someone to take a proactive approach to ensuring our records accurately reflect our current and future resourcing levels and that officers and staff are allocated appropriate training to maintain skills capability.

What will I be doing?

You will work closely with Area Commands and Departments to maintain and update establishment records updating the force Resource Management System and a range of other resourcing tools. You will use the information to identify and provide advice around current and future gaps.

You will be reviewing resource levels, assessing and authorising annual leave requests and booking training courses within set abstraction levels ensuring officers maintain skills.

Whilst the role is based within our Force Coordination Centre at Ponteland flexibility is required as you will be expected to spend some time within your allocated area command or department.

You will arrange resourcing for events and operations providing advice using the systems available to provide advice around the resource and abstraction levels to commanders.

Conduct assessments and reviews of flexible working patterns to meet demand and business requirements.

What do I need?

Excellent communication skills are essential to the role, the successful candidate will be working with officers and staff at all levels throughout organisation.

You will need to be organised and methodical in your approach with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads. You will present and explain the information you produce to senior management teams.

Team working is essential within the Force Coordination Centre, Resource Coordinators will work jointly with Resource Planners and administrators to ensure the effective recording and deployment of resources.

The successful candidate will need to have the ability to make decisions in line with organisational policies and guidelines ensuring fairness and equality and be able to provide clear rationale around those decisions.
