The role:
Salary Banding: Grade C £19,374 - £21,135
We are looking for a person with experience of collecting and delivering vehicles using a slide-back, flat-bed recovery truck.
This person will have a positive, can-do attitude, ready to take on the unique challenges of working with police fleet vehicles.

What will I be doing?
You will be required to load, transport and unload vehicles moving to and from the fleet workshop for maintenance and repair. The majority of those vehicles can be driven, but there are occasions when damaged or immobile vehicles need to be transported, requiring you to be familiar with equipment and techniques used in those circumstances. Vehicles transported range in size and weight from cars to light commercial vehicles and occasional motorcycles.
You will be required to work a 37 hour week, covering the period 08:00 - 16:00 hours, Monday to Friday, with the choice whether to work fixed or flexible daily hours. However, occasional flexibility is required of all staff in order to meet short notice operational requirements, which may include a request to work overtime or additional hours.
What do I need?
You must have experience of collecting and delivering vehicles from depots and vehicle repairers, and a thorough understanding of the safe systems of work and vehicle check procedures required in that environment. Good communication skills are required as you will be working with a wide variety of people in many different roles across Northumbria Police, as well as external repairers and contractors.
You must possess the following:
• Institute of Vehicle Recovery Modules VR1 – VR7 (inclusive) and VR24 or equivalent.
• Category CE Driving Licence.
• Vehicle transport and / or recovery experience using a flat-bed or slide-back truck with spectacle lift frame.

Applicants must be a resident of the UK for a minimum period of 3 years to ensure vetting checks can be successfully performed. A job offer will be dependent upon vetting clearance, medical information and references.
