Join our Police Cadets and you’ll uncover skills and confidence that you never knew you had.
As part of our 3 year scheme specifically designed for 15-18 year olds, you’ll mix with a new crowd and take on fresh challenges together. You’ll get to see behind the scenes of policing, working with serving officers in the community and get involved in some of the biggest North East events. Along the way, you’ll also get a taste for independence and pick up skills that’ll help you smash your future goals.
Before applying make sure you meet our basic criteria for joining:
• You should be in school year 10 at the start of the course, meaning you are turning 15 during this academic year.
• You should live in the Northumbria Police Force area because you will be heavily involved with your local community. You also need to have lived in the UK for the last three years.
• Even if you have received a reprimand or warning from the police, this does not necessarily mean you cannot go on to become a cadet.
Apply now to start in January 2021.
After you’ve sent off your application form, you’ll take part in an informal interview with a cadet leader. We’ll also carry out a few background checks for things like cautions and your residency status.
We are recruiting cadets in South Tyneside, Sunderland, North Tyneside, Northumberland, Newcastle and Gateshead.
