The Role:
The End User Device team are responsible for providing a wide range of end user devices to the rest of the force, providing officers and staff with the tools to do their job. You will be responsible for the team who currently manage the issuing of the kit, ensuring that there is always sufficient stock to service the needs of the users and ensuring that timely ordering takes place to replenish this stock. You will also be the key contact for the administration of the force’s Body Worn Video user accounts and maintenance of hardware.
This is currently a fixed term contract position (12 months) however the role is under consideration for becoming part of the approved departmental establishment.
What do I need?
- Some experience of providing 1st and 2nd line IT support service.
- Excellent Customer Service skills.
- Demonstrable planning and organising capability.
- An ability to prioritise your own workload while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a ‘can do’ attitude alongside sound decision-making skills.
- Knowledge and experience working with technical IT teams.
- An ability to bridge the gap between technical and business language, ensuring that the user understands any requests made of them.
- Excellent communication skills with experience in influencing and negotiating in a team setting.
- Supervisory experience would be advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence
What will I be doing?
As the supervisor of a small team, you will be working with the support and mentoring of the Data Device Analyst and Data Device Manager to grow and maximise your skills to ensure that the team can provide an outstanding service for the issuance and management of kit through its full lifecycle.
You will be required to:
- Receive, store and issue equipment ensuring items are available for users and demonstrate the use of equipment when required to ensure the user is aware of basic operating functions.
- Monitor stock levels, organise the disposal and replacement of equipment when required in line with procedures to ensure adequate stocks are always available for users. Oversee the decommissioning of data devices in line with information security policies and procedures.
- Undertake equipment checks and routine maintenance in accordance with procedures to ensure reliable stocks are available for the user.
- Supervise a small team, ensuring that their wellbeing and performance is monitored.
- Update the ICT Service Management tool and associated knowledge base on repair of incidents, resolution of problems or progress of service requests.
- Support the administration of body worn video user accounts and hardware.
- Liaise with external suppliers for computer equipment and peripherals, ensuring that an order log is maintained.
- Implement safe working practices adhering to Health and Safety requirements for yourself and the team at all times.
- Physical ability – lifting, loading, and unloading on occasions heavy equipment safely in and around various office locations.

Vetting level: Recruitment Vetting (RV)
