Salary and Grade: E, £21,951 to £24,030

Role

As the Victim Awareness Practioner you will coordinate and deliver victim awareness impact sessions to low level, mainly first time male offenders with the aim of increasing offenders awareness of the impact of crime on a victim and reducing reoffending.

You will ensure that a robust administrative system is implemented and manage any referrals, bookings and attendance.

The successful candidate will:

·         Have excellent written and oral communication skills, in particular an ability to engage with a wide range of people and deliver presentations effectively and confidently

·         Be able to write reports of a high standard and provide statistical data

·         Have excellent organisational skills

·         Have a sound understanding of the Criminal Justice System

·         Have a passion for delivering highest standard of service

·         Have previous experience working with either offenders or victims and a comprehensive understanding of the impact of offending on victims of crime

·         Be qualified Restorative Justice Practitioner (RJ) and able to identify suitable RJ opportunities


The role will deliver 3 victim impact awareness sessions per month and will be held in 3 different locations – North, Central and South within the Northumbria Police Force area. Therefore the post holder will be expected to travel as part of the role and must have access to transport.

Vetting: You must have a period of 3 years residency in the UK
