Media & Communications Adviser – JRN 16478

Salary: £26,763 - £29,307

Based at: Forth Banks, Newcastle City Centre Police Station
JRN: 16478

The Force is looking to appoint a number of Media and Communications Advisers to join a newly-created team in the Communication & Engagement Department.  In addition, there is one secondment/fixed term opportunity to cover a period of maternity leave for 12 months.

Are you an experienced multimedia advisor looking for an exciting new challenge?

Does the prospect of working in a fast-paced environment, never knowing what the next day will bring, excite you?

Would you relish the opportunity to provide a communications service to the sixth largest police force in the country?

If you’re answering ‘yes’ to these questions, then Northumbria Police wants to hear from you.

Role:

We are looking for truly multimedia advisors. We want individuals who can not only respond to media enquiries, but who are equally as confident at being proactive and producing a range of engaging content – including video – to be shared across all of our platforms.

We also need individuals who have experience of delivering content on social media – and know how best to use these channels to maximise reach.

The successful candidate will also need to have the confidence to advise and influence senior officers about the best course of action when dealing with communications activities.

You will be on the front line – protecting the reputation of Northumbria Police and building confidence within the communities we serve.

Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

A knowledge of media law is also desirable, but not essential.

The successful candidate must be able to travel around the Force area and be able to work flexible hours.

There is also a requirement to perform on-call duties which attracts an additional payment.

So, if you are still finding yourself saying ‘yes’, then we definitely want to hear from you.
