Salary: Band 5, £19,160 - £19,941 pro rata (£27,531 - £28,653 per annum)

Hours/Contract: 25.75 hours per week, 12-month fixed term contract

The role

Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Force Coordination and Operations Department as a Researcher.

Working as part of a team of researchers and analysts your work will be key to the delivery of effective problem solving in support of the local aims and objectives and intelligence processes. 

This role sits within the Intelligence Analytical department and is part of a team involved in supporting a team of analysts linked to tactical, strategic and operational requirements. 

Intelligence Researchers form a key part of the analytical function within the Intelligence unit.  Their primary role is to provide research support to the Intelligence Analysts by assisting in the collation of intelligence and evidence regarding crimes and criminals.  They also conduct research in relation to intelligence development, utilising internal and external police force databases and when appropriate initiating enquiries with partnership and other external agencies or businesses.   

What you’ll do

  • Using specialist software identify collate and input data from a range of sources to appropriate databases, in order to contribute to the analysis of crime and disorder.
  • Identify links, emerging trends and patterns between crimes and criminals in order to contribute to the assessment of threat harm and risk in all areas of crime and disorder.
  • Undertake research requests and project work, using both internal   external systems in order to provide relevant information to contribute to the analytical function.
  • Contribute to the compilation of analytical products, ensuring that relevant timely complete and accurate information is available to support effective decision making.
  • Liaise with internal and external sources in order to facilitate the collection and analysis of data.
  • Complete data requests returns and adhoc enquiries in order to comply with requests from external clients such home office, FOI and other partners, to comply with National requirements.

What you’ll bring 

  • Knowledge of application packaging using scripts and deployment tools, including MSI and MSIX.
  • Experience managing complex enterprise deployments and operating system deployment using SCCM task sequencing or MDT.
  • Proven experience in Windows 10 administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to use scripting to automate administrative tasks.
  • Good working knowledge of group policy administration and Active Directory.
  • Understanding of patch management and product lifecycles.
  • Experience using an ITSM tool and analysing data logs for root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of NEP Endpoint security design and configuration standards.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Management Configuration Manager (SCCM current branch).
  • Experience with Microsoft cloud services (Intune, Endpoint Manager Admin, Azure, Autopilot, M365) at the Intune administrator level.
  • Research new technology, tools and scripts to support the delivery of desktop computing and improve the end user device experience.

Terms of appointment

This is a fixed term role subject to a six-month probationary period.
