This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Communication and Engagement Team as an Internal Engagement Adviser.

In this exciting role, you’ll work alongside the Senior Internal Engagement Advisor to bring our Internal Engagement Strategy to life—creating campaigns that inform, energise, and empower our workforce. Your creativity and drive will help strengthen the sense of purpose and belonging across the organisation, ensuring our people feel supported, inspired, and proud to deliver an outstanding policing service.

 

What you’ll do

  

  •  Lead and deliver impactful internal communication plans that align with our strategic narrative, targeting specific business areas to drive engagement and connection.
  • Proactively source and share content from across the organisation using a mix of channels—digital, written, face-to-face—and produce engaging written and visual materials.
  • Support workforce transformation by developing clear, benefit-led communications that help embed a positive culture of change.
  • Create and evaluate internal content that ensures effective communication at all levels, using data and feedback to measure impact and continuously improve.
  • Translate complex information into clear, engaging messages that support operational policing and enabling services, helping teams stay informed and empowered.
  • Advise and influence senior leaders on communication tactics, helping shape and structure corporate messages that resonate across the organisation.

What you’ll bring

  

 Essential:

  •  Proven experience delivering internal communication and engagement plans
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to produce creative content across multiple channels (e.g. video, blogs, intranet)
  • Skilled in creating and editing digital content (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced communications environment
  • Strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage stakeholder relationships
  • High attention to detail and discretion with sensitive information
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including unsociable hours
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and internal engagement platforms
  • Eligible for vetting and able to travel across the Force area

Desirable:

  •  Awareness of best practice in internal communications
  • Understanding of media law and current policing issues
  • Experience using analytics and feedback to improve engagement
  • Familiarity with staff surveys and internal campaigns (e.g. DEI, wellbeing)
  • Ability to support communications during major or critical incidents

Terms of appointment 

 

This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
