The role

Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Digital Policing department as a Senior Microsoft 365 Developer.

As a Senior M365 Developer, you will provide development expertise relative to front and back-end solutions including integration, application, and mobile platform components. Adopting the continual development methodology to maintain solution compliance with architectural and development standards, while enhancing existing capabilities.

You will need to demonstrate proven experience of building high quality, enterprise grade software solutions and maintaining their relevance through continual development methodologies. You will be responsible for the continual development of all in-house and partner developed Microsoft365-based software products and services, including delivery against local and national demands, and enabling successful outcomes against strategic priorities and objectives.

As a senior member of the development team, you will deliver line management and coaching to the Developer(s) (M365), ensuring their personal development is suitable and progressive in line with the career grading of the post.

What you’ll do

  • You will provide internal consultancy and advice on innovation and the impact of technology resulting from business, legislative, political and wider criminal justice changes, assisting in preparing the Force Strategic Plan to achieve overall Force strategic objectives.
  • You will oversee and provide technical guidance against all integration and application development, ensuring compliance with development and technology standards, delivery methodologies and ITSM change and release processes.
  • You will participate in the adoption of development standards and the approach to measuring compliance against all code packages pre and post release across all environments.
  • You will work autonomously to ensure new and ongoing development across the integration and application landscapes meets agreed timescales and quality measures.
  • You will provide technical leadership, line management and mentoring to ensure the Developer(s) (M365) are appropriately skilled, are continually developing their capabilities and competencies and have exposure to new and emerging technologies.

What you’ll bring

  • You will be a highly motivated and self-reliant individual with demonstrable experience of defining, leading, and implementing Enterprise integration and application solutions with sound analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • You will have in-depth knowledge and experience of developing with the Microsoft Power Platform, utilising Logic Apps, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI to provide integrated Line of Business Applications.
  • You will have proven knowledge of UI/UX basic prototype design, creation of story boards and the ability to visualise proposed solutions.
  • You should be able to demonstrate knowledge and have experience of working with continual development tooling and implementation of associated development governance such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and code control.
  • You will have in-depth experience in prioritising the delivery of continual development activities within an agile environment utilising backlog and sprint planning.
