Salary Banding: £28,974 - £31,725 plus allowances.
The Forensic Services Department within Northumbria Police provides essential forensic support to all investigations and relies on the skill and teamwork of all of our experienced and professional practitioners.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an
experienced forensic practitioner to join the Crime Scene Investigation Unit as
a Crime Scene Investigations Supervisor. We are looking for an experienced and
positive individual with a passion for supervising and developing staff. The
individual will be managing and coordinating the delivery of an effective and
efficient crime scene investigation service, ensuring the appropriate level of
response and resource is allocated to meet organisational demand and
performance standards. They will support the investigation process within
agreed service level timeframes and deliver an effective frontline service in
line with force objectives. They will also undertake the role of Crime Scene Co-ordinator
in relation to complex and multiple incidents, and support management to develop
the unit.

Person Specification
Suitable candidates will need to be able to demonstrate a passion for forensics and a positive determination to deliver a high performing service.
Essential
• Proven and extensive track record in an operational Crime Scene Investigation Unit, involved in complex and major crime investigations, including completion of accredited or vocational Crime Scene Manager training.
• An understanding of the role of the Forensic Science Regulator and International Office of Standardisation forensic quality standards.
• Current Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
• Line management experience, setting personal and performance objectives, and monitoring, assessing and evaluating progress.
• Completion of accredited or vocational Crime Scene Co-ordinator training.
• Specialism in a relevant crime scene investigation skill (e.g. covert forensics, Disaster Victim Identification, Chemical, Biological, Radioactive and Nuclear).
