Grade & Salary: Career Grade Post, B-G, £18,499 to £31,725 (starting salary/grade will be dependent on experience)
Based at: Peterlee

 

The role:


This role will require you to undertake the full range of fingerprint-related duties in support of the investigation and detection of crime, including search, comparison, evidence preparation/delivery, liaison with Area Command staff and the management of appropriate intelligence. You will also be required to assist with IDENT1 Tenprint processing.

What will I be doing?

Analyse, compare and evaluate friction ridge detail in order to provide opinions and interpretations of the suitability of these marks for evidential purposes to officers.

Undertake a range of duties in relation to verification, quality standards and records maintenance in order to maintain and enhance the service provided.

Attend and examine crime scenes for fingerprint evidence including obtaining prints from cadaver in support of operational officers when requested.

You will carry out a range of administrative and clerical duties in an efficient and timely manner. 

You will be expected to make a positive contribution to quality standards in relation to ongoing ISO 17025 accreditation, be supportive of continuous improvement initiatives and be flexible in your approach to change on a local and national level. 


What do I need?

You will be competent in the use of general IT applications and have excellent communication skills and an eye for detail. Fingerprint experience working at either expert of intermediate level is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
